We’ve prepared this concise list of steps to help you hit the ground running in beginning to think about going to Burning Man from Houston and in getting connected with the year-round burner community here in Houston. If you have any questions, please feel free to email any of our volunteer Ambassadors for help. We look forward to meeting you!
Step 1 – Connect With Us on Social Media
A lot of the discussion in the Houston burner community happens on Facebook. Please see our Connect With Us page for information on joining our Facebook group and liking our Facebook page. We are also active on a variety of other social media platforms if you prefer these instead of Facebook.
Step 2 – Sign Up for Our Newsletter
If you scroll down (on mobile) or look to the right (on a desktop), you’ll see the signup form for our newsletter. It’s delivered via email and contains information on both our efforts, as well as that of our non-profit sponsor Houston Art Collective.
Step 3 – Read Our Guide to Burning Man
We have lovingly prepared a detailed Burning Man Guide in which you’ll find a ton of useful information and hard-won knowledge culled together from years of attending the event from Houston. Our Ambassadors are also always available to answer any and all of your questions.
Step 4 – Attend a Local Event
Lots of folks first meet us by coming to one of our Thermal Thursday weekly burner community gatherings at our Warehouse. We also have other fun events like our Beginner Campout and All About Burning Man Meetup. Check our Upcoming Events page for more information on what’s happening next.
Step 5 – Get More Involved
The best way to get more involved is to join one of our burner community projects. You can learn more about these by filling out our Volunteer Survey and visiting the website of our non-profit sponsor Houston Art Collective. Our local Houpla Burning Man Theme Camp specializes in taking Houstonians to Burning Man for the first time and is building interactivity projects to take to the playa. Our community Art Car team is building a new mutant vehicle to take to playa. Our community BBQ Team is practicing recipes and preparations that support gifting Texas-style BBQ at burns. Plus, we’re open and eager to support your ideas as well. Let’s collaborate!
