Our Ambassadors are experienced Houston-area burners who make a special effort to seek out and make themselves available to new burners to help them learn more about attending Burning Man and getting more involved in the Houston burner community.
2019 Ambassadors include:
Mason “Lobo” Hill
Mason co-leads our Ambassadors team. He attended Burning Man in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and has led our community truck for the last two years. Mason’s an expert at mechanical solutions for keeping cool in the desert. He also loves mycology and long walks in the woods.
Dmitri Tsentalovich
Dmitri co-leads our Ambassadors team. He went to Burning Man in 2017 and 2019 and got engaged to his lovely wife at sunrise on the playa. Dmitri enjoys nanotechnology and singing karaoke and has had multiple magical encounters with the phenomenon of “the playa provides.”
Scout Gear
Scout attending Burning Man in 2018. She was introduced to the event by her mom, which we think is the coolest thing ever. Scout’s a passionate lover of animals and burning used Christmas trees. She and her mom drove to Burning Man from Texas, and she can tell you about all sorts of great sightseeing opportunities along the way.
“Tarzan” Tony
Tony went to Burning Man in 2017. He was the co-lead for our art car project in 2018. Tony took “full advantage” of the medical services at Burning Man and can help folks understand how injuries are handled in the desert. Tony’s also very patient and understanding when people accidentally run into his car on build days.
Debi “Mom Ranger” Haq
Debi attended her first Burning Man in 2017 as was hooked, returning again in 2018. She and best-friend Wanda co-led the kitchen at our Houpla theme camp last year. She’s a master mixologist and knows all of the best drinks to make on the playa. She’s also professional-level at the “Telephone Game.”
Wanda “White Licorice” Zaman
Wanda went to Burning Man for the first time in 2017, loved it, and returned again in 2018 and 2019. She and best-friend Debi co-led the kitchen at our Houpla theme camp last year. She’s a very experienced R/V’er and can walk you through the pro’s and con’s of having a R/V on the playa. She can do the same for golf carts. A registered nurse, Wanda can be found keeping burners patched up so that they can go and re-injure themselves with glee and abandon.
Deicy “D-Rex” Brown
Deicy attended her first Burning Man in 2016 and returned in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Deicy is an experienced burner costume builder and camp chef. A native of Colombia, she’s also an expert at cussing in Spanish and doling out burner nicknames.
Andy “Sandor” Brown
Andy attended his first Burning Man in 2014 and has attended every year since. He’s built and led burner non-profits, theme camps, art cars, and community truck efforts. His main burner passion is introducing new people to Burning Man and helping them have a great first experience.
